Welcome to the Recall Rangers of Pacific County. If you believe in government transparency, accountability, and due process, then you are in the right place.

Legal Grounds for Recall:

  1. Violation of Open Public Meetings Act (RCW 42.30)

    • Commissioners held secret meetings regarding the removal of the county jail from sheriff control.

    • No public disclosure or discussion before the vote, violating transparency laws (RCW 42.30.030, RCW 42.30.060).

  2. Disregard for Public Input

    • Overwhelming community opposition was ignored.

    • Residents requested more time for discussion, but the vote proceeded without delay, undermining the duty to represent constituents (RCW 29A.56.110).

  3. Predetermined Decision & Misrepresentation

    • Commissioners falsely claimed no prior decision had been made.

    • Pre-written statements before voting indicate the decision was made in advance, violating public trust and the oath of office (RCW 29A.56.110).

  4. Legal Grounds for Recall (RCW 29A.56.110)

    • Malfeasance: Secret meetings and lack of disclosure constitute wrongful conduct.

    • Misfeasance: Failure to conduct a transparent decision-making process undermines public trust.

    • Violation of Oath of Office: Misrepresentation and failure to uphold public accountability breach their sworn duties.

  5. Call for Accountability

    • Commissioners’ actions justify recall under Washington State law (RCW 29A.56.110).

    • The recall process is necessary to restore transparency and uphold local democratic governance.

Demand Transparency

Accountability – When government actions are visible to the public, officials are more likely to act in the best interests of the people. Transparency helps prevent corruption and misuse of power. Trust in Government – Citizens are more likely to trust their leaders when they have access to clear and honest information about policies, decisions, and spending. Informed Public – Transparency allows people to understand how policies affect them and enables them to make informed decisions when voting or engaging in civic activities. Prevention of Corruption – Openness reduces opportunities for bribery, fraud, and unethical behavior by exposing government actions to scrutiny.

Why Do We Need A Recall ?

A recall will enhance accountability and ensure that elected officials remain responsive to the will of the people. Recalls serve as a crucial mechanism for removing leaders who fail to uphold their duties, engage in corruption, or lose public trust before their term ends. By allowing voters to hold officials accountable between election cycles, recalls help prevent abuses of power and reinforce the principle that government should serve the people, not personal or special interests. This process encourages politicians to act ethically and fulfill their campaign promises, knowing that they could face removal if they betray public confidence. Additionally, recalls can help restore public trust in the political system by demonstrating that citizens have a direct say in governance beyond just scheduled elections. When voters feel empowered to take action against ineffective or unethical leaders, it strengthens civic engagement and encourages greater political participation. This process can also act as a deterrent, discouraging politicians from engaging in misconduct or neglecting their responsibilities. While recalls should be used judiciously to avoid political instability, they remain an important safeguard that reinforces the principles of democracy, transparency, and good governance.
